DanielakArt -- A Gallery Without Walls, presents "True Believers," a solo exhibition of oil paintings by award-winning artist John Paul Thornton of Pasadena.
The exhibit will be at the Fine Artists Factory, 474 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena, from Friday through April 30.
Thornton has reclaimed the term "True Believers" from images of fiery fanaticism and political zealotry to describe the "sense of wonder and commitment to life that we experience in our quietest, most unguarded moments."
Thornton has worked with at-risk children and lived in refugee communities. He's also been honored by CBS television for his work on behalf of the public.
In addition, he has received honors from the California Senate and was awarded an Artist-in-Residence grant from the LA Cultural Affairs Department to develop an arts education program. Thornton created the model for this program while teaching art to Tibetan refugees in Nepal.
A reception for Thornton's exhibit will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at The Fine Artists Factory. For more information, call (626) 683-9922, or visit www.danielakart.com.
